| Massimiliano Orlandoni Go to the Photos |
Massimiliano Orlandoni was born on 27th September 1967. "Photography is going out from a conscious past to find out a seeming future". In this way the author describes his own photography, meaning something deeper and more poetical than a simple picture. The artist develops his passion towards this kind of art only by himself and his experience with a constant study. He prefers his usual night date with the dark room than schools and courses during the day. First his dark room was in his bedroom and this was an indication to give the name to his new workroom "Atelier Chambre". Massimiliano Orlandoni was born, grows and still lives in the Marche, a region where life flies quiet in contact with nature and in peace amongst in habitants. Exactly there the little town Castelfidardo (An) lies on a hill over the seaside and its piece of sky is full of accordion notes, which sound over the waves noise. That is the right place to create his first artistic photos, which he collects in his first work "The devil on the hills". By this work he comes out from his hidden passion and both the public and the critic get acquainted with the power of his picture. This work is composed by 40 photos and PRO LOCO in Castelfidardo (a public cultural association) with the contribution of CARILO Foundation help the versatile and strange artist to collect his pictures in a book, as a symbolic presentation of his native country. The 40 pictures illustrate the history of the Italian hills. They are abandoned by people because of a mysterious guide and now in the lonely landscape you can see only shadows that mean people in the past are now only a hazy recollection. The deep acquaintance with the master Mario Giacomelli from Senigallia (An) makes the artist direct the attention to the poetical aspects in photos. In this way he creates a deep contact with his work and a new artistic period follows. In the meantime he meets people and situations that push him more and more into his creative and poetical world as the wind of live art can do. He also meets Fulvio De Pellegrin from Riva Del Garda (Tn) and Adriano Eccel from Trento and they soon establish a real relationship and a special exchange of thoughts and images under their common passion that is photography. After "The devil on the hills", that is inspired by the homonymous novel by Cesare Pavese, there is "Less than a moment before death". Roberto Mutti writes about it: "... he wanted to walk towards the extreme borders of consciousness through an images' tale with a strong expressive power. It is composed by single pieces but they are collected by a strong and conscious narrative rhythm ...". It is an inner and personal tale of the artist with autobiographical allusions and it wants to describe that transitive period of our mind when the body doesn't make any action. It can be a faint or a coma state, whose common description talk about a walk from a dark tunnel to a final intense light. Even the "Voies Off" of the International Meetings of the Photography in Arles (France) gives to this images' tale a special attention in 1998. So the artist has to represent the "Young Italian Photography" (he is selected amongst other from the teacher Mario Cresci) and can take part in the "Voies Off Award" that is for further selected works of the edition in 1998. In the meanwhile the friendly relation with the photographer Fulvio De Pellegrin and his love for poetry lead him to make real a simple plan where both the artists develop some free explanatory photos for the poems of Lucia De Benedetto. The title of the work is "Shadows of thoughts" and Edition Brillarelli printed the relative book. Moreover the artist publishes his works in some exhibitions catalogues and in various specialised magazines. Amongst them (and the more recent one) there is "Photography Actual" printed in Barcelona (Spain): in the no. 72 of 1999 it publishes the work "Less than a moment before death". He exposes his works both in Italy and Abroad winning approbation from the public and the critic like for example the last one in Milan where he exposed his works at the International Fair "PHOTO SHOW 1999". Last but not least is his presence at the photography ASTA (auction sale) in December 1998 in Pavia. The event wanted to give more value to the various private and public collections like the "Spain Photoplace" in Cordoba (Spain) in which archives there are the first works by the poetical Massimiliano Orlandoni. |
